DIY - Easter Bunny - Room Decor/Treat Bag/Toy | J.M.

I am so excited, finally weather gets warmer and it starts to feel like spring, plus next week will be an Easter holidays. I have prepared one very cute and pretty simple Easter DIY. These Easter bunnies can be a room decor, treat bags or toys. They can be made different sizes (and shapes). Also it could be cool DIY for those who just learning how to sew either by hand or machine.

For this DIY  I used some leftover pieces of fabric, but also can be used old pieces of clothing.
Also will be needed thread, needle (or sewing machine), scissors, pen/marker, ribbons, filling (depending of what will be the purpose - sweets, beads or fiberfill/cotton balls).

I made each of my bunnies from one piece, but you can make two pieces and sew them together.

At first fold the fabric (right side facing in) in half (or height of the bunny) and/or fold it one more time (width of the bunny).

If you folded twice - draw HALF of the bunny, keep the folded corner is in the middle and draw along the edge.
If you folded once - draw the bunny, keeping the fold at the bottom.
For my bunnies I didn't use any stencils, all are hand drawn and have different sizes and shapes, what imho looks way better than a bunch of identical bunnies.

Next step - cut out the bunny. If folded twice - unfold once to see whole bunny.
Now comes the trickier part - sewing. Sew along the outer edges and around the ears, but leave the gap in-between the ears  open. If you wish, beforehand use zigzag stitch on a raw edges or just in-between the ears to prevent fabric from falling apart, especially if it will be used as a treat bag.
When sewing is done, tie in knots ends of threads and pull it inside out. For ears you can use something like pencil to help push the fabric from the inside.

So bunny is ready to be filled up.

To make it stand on its own, better fill it with beads (at least at the bottom) because by using just fiberfill or cotton balls bunny won't be able to stand on its own (you can seen in the photo down below small pink bunny lays down, while quilted one stands).
I left the gap open, because I use them as a decors, so I don't mind, but you can hand sew it close. The treat bag obviously need to be left open.

And the last step is to tie a bow around the ears.

Give some last touches like draw face, glue on scut (tail) etc.

Happy Easter!
