DIY - Scrunchie

It's been a while since I posted a DIY here on my blog, but finally here's one.
I have tons of different bits and pieces of leftover fabrics, drawstrings, elastics etc. So I decided to turn them into some nice accessories for my hair.

Scrunchies in some way brings me back to my childhood, but at same time they (as well as many other things from the past)  came back in trend. There are many way how to style the hair with scrunchies and don't look like you have traveled back in time, but that I will leave for an another post. In this blog post I am sharing two easy ways how to make scrunchie.

The first one is super simple and can be done literally in a couple of minutes.
All you need is a hair tie and a lace/drawstring (~150cm/59inches or longer).

Take one end of the lace and tie it around the hair tie.
Next the lace from the bottom of hair tie, make a loop and bring  lace from the top of hair tie through the loop.
Keep the loop on your finger.
And repeat but this time there will be two loops to bring lace through.
Repeat until all lace is done. Basically it is like you would be crocheting.
To secure - tie both lace ends in a double knot.
Hide end if you wish.

Second scrunchie requires a bit more time and patient and some sewing skills.
So you will need piece of fabric, elastic, thread and needle.

Cut out rectangle (~50x10cm / 19x4 inches).
Fold in half inside out.
Sew the long sides (using sewing machine or by hand).
Evert.
Cut about 20cm/8inches long elastic and pull it through.
Sew or tie in a double knot ends of the elastic.
Tuck one end of the fabric into an other, fold inside the raw edge and sew it.

Hope you find this post helpful and stay tuned for a hair tutorial using scrunchies.

Be creative!
